Gregor Rebula turns Professional

We wish good luck to former Amateur Latin Champion Gregor Rebula who has now  turned Professional to dance with Rachael Heron and will be representing England.

BDF Congress at British National Dance Championships

The Ballroom Dancers Federation are proud to announce that they will present a Congress at the British National Dance Championships on Friday the 20th November 2009 in the Spanish Hall, Winter Gardens, Blackpool.  A very impressive line up of lecturers have been invited to present short 20 minute lectures on competitive ballroom dancing from 10am-1pm.  Admission to the Congress is absolutely free (Amateurs & Professionals are both welcome), and tea and coffee will be served at 11.00am.

On TV and the Stage...

Well done to Ben & Becky Milan-Vega who reached the semi-finals of the ITV show "Britain's got talent".

Also well done and good luck to Tabby Law, one of our Juniors, who will be appearing in Billy Elliot for two days a week from June 3rd this year for the next six months (after 3 months of rehearsals), playing Tina, the ballet girl friend of Billy. Tabby has also gained a scholarship to the Legat Ballet school, part of the St. Bedes educational school in Hailsham, Sussex.

James & Rachel Barron recently performed in the Pentecost 2009 Life & Tonic show on the HMS President in London.

Queensland Latin Youth Open

Even further afield, Courtney and Tyler Blah represented England in the Queensland Latin Youth Open at Jupiters Casino last month. They have only just resumed dancing together again and had been together 6 weeks before the competition. In their first comp back, they achieved a very creditable 6th place.

Senior I and II Ballroom World Championships

Jonas Kazlauskas & Jasmine Chan and Ben & Becky Milan-Vega will be representing England in the European Youth Latin Championship in Germany in June.
Dan Baxter & Janine-Nicole Desai and John Townsend & Sabine Kuntze have been selected to represent England at the World Senior I Ballroom in Canada in September.
 

European Youth Latin & Standard Championships

Congratulations to Marco Cavallaro & Joanne Clifton who came 6th in the European Amateur Ballroom Championships in France in April. Mark & Olga Elsbury were placed 22nd.
 
In the European Amateur Latin Championship in Germany Ben Hardwick & Lucy Jones were placed 21st and Alejandro Hernandez & Kerri-Ann Donaldson were placed 28th out of 65 couples.

In the European Youth Standard in Poland last month Jonas Kazlauskas & Jasmine Chan were placed 25th and Ben & Becky Milan-Vega were placed 36th out of 51 couples.

Dominique Corolleur & Diane Cottee at Megeve

Well done to Dominique Corolleur & Diane Cottee who competed at an IDSF comp in Megeve in France over Easter where they finished 24th in Senior Latin.
