Information for International Competitors

Many of our top couples will advise that you should gain as much experience of competing overseas as possible. This section is designed to help provide you with all the necessary information.

Don’t forget if you do compete abroad please let our travel [at] eada [dot] org [dot] uk (travel rep) know and we would strongly advise only competing in IDSF registered comps.

To check the status of your IDSF licence see their website Please note that the IDSF require registration for their competitions by the Wednesday before the comp at the latest.

IDSF AGM and RULE CHANGES FOR 2011

The IDSF AGM took place in Vienna at the start of June with 55 member associations present. The following motions passed:
- Minimum time between rounds increased to 20mins
- Number of advertisers increased on costumes: 3 for men, 1 for women.
This will come into force from 1st January 2011
Please note the BDC rules re. advertising remain the same: 54d advertising of up to three sponsors per couple on comp dress is permitted up to 40 square cm for each sponsor. The sponsorship can be on the man or lady's costume.

Anti-doping Information:

The World Anti-Doping Agency have released their 2010 list of banned substances. It identifies a number of substances and methods of used which are now not prohibited but require a declaration of use. A summary of changes are listed online here. For asthma sufferers inhaled salbutamol and salmeterol are off the banned list but dancers are required to declare this information on the Doping Control Form at the time of testing.
