Council Meeting
At the recent EADA meeting, the Council were presented with the accounts for the 09-10 year and a forecast for the future, which will be available to members at the AGM on 20th November. We reviewed our financial situation and planned membership fees for next year, which will be announced shortly.
The Council discussed the ever-increasing cost of sending couples to compete in World & European Championships and the need for international competitors to have travel insurance which covers them for competing in a sport (this is often not included in ordinary travel insurance and if an individual was to make a claim for something unrelated to competing whilst abroad without having disclosed that they were there for a competition, then the insurance may not be valid). We have renewed accidnet insurance for all memebrs and are investigating the possibility of arranging travel insurance to cover competing.
Reports were given from all Directors and the international matters regarding the present situation with the IDSF were also discussed at length. This will be an item on the agenda of the AGM. The President also reported back from the recent IDSF meeting in Stuttgart regarding the plans to recommend a European Federation to the Presidium to assist with funding opportunities and the World & European Championships planned for University students – we are awaiting further details on how student couples are to enter these events. There are also plans for Dancesport to be involved in the Mediterranean Games in Greece in 2013.
The Executive Committee will be meeting again at the end of October.
Information about the AGM will be online and posted to all members in October. The AGM will take place on 20th November at 10.30am in the Renaissance Room at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
