Press release from WDSA

The 2012 National Wheelchair Dance Sport Championship will take place on Saturday 29 September 2012, with a Gala Dinner in the evening to celebrate wheelchair dance sport and wheelchair dance.
The event, being run by the Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK), will take place at the Watford Colosseum and will show the best the UK has to offer in the world of wheelchair dance and wheelchair dance sport as well as beginners to the sport.

Following the Paralympics, public interest in the sport is at an all-time high, and a high level of competition is expected at these championships. The event is still offering tickets for spectators to see this amazing sport and the dedication of its athletes, either to the competition, or to the gala dinner. Come along and find out more about what wheelchair dance sport and wheelchair dancing is all about.
Sue Cummings, WDSA (UK) Chair said: “This is the biggest event ever to be staged in the UK for Wheelchair Dance Sport and credit must be given to the organising committee and the sport technical experts for all their hard work.
“The sport has really grown in recent years within the UK and it will be fantastic for the dancers to perform in front of a sell-out capacity crowd.”
To buy your ticket for this fantastic Championship, or if you would like to grab the last few remaining seats at the Gala Dinner, book online at or call the Ticket Office on 0845 075 3993.
The day after the UK Championships, the UK Wheelchair Dance Sport community members gather for the Sport Forum and AGM. The forum will be an opportunity for all those members involved in the sport to provide feedback and gain expert information on its future.

The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (UK) was established in 2006 as the National Governing Body for wheelchair dance sport and wheelchair dancing within the UK, for those who would otherwise be excluded from dancing.  The aim of the WDSA (UK) is to promote and develop wheelchair dancing as a sport and leisure activity across the country and to raise the standard of coaching and competition in the UK and internationally at all levels.  Wheelchair Dance Sport is accessible to anyone with no boundaries in terms of age limit or level of ability.
