Reinstatement as an Amateur:

It is possible for those that have turned Professional to apply to come back to Amateur status.  Those wishing to do so must apply in writing to the BDC.  Upon receipt of this application the Secretary of the BDC will forward the request to the nominated representatives of the BDC & EADA who will handle the request.  EADA will send a Reinstatement Form to the applicant and the form must be returned to EADA with a cheque for £25 (made payable to EADA - this is non-refundable).  The representatives will discuss the application and each case will be judged on its own merits.

If the representatives do not approve the request, it will be returned to the BDC Secretary who will inform the applicant.

If there are no objections from the representatives, the case will be put to an EADA sub-committee who will also discuss the application.  If they deny the request it will be returned to the BDC Secretary who will inform the applicant.  If the EADA sub-committee approve the request EADA will inform the applicant and confirm with the BDC.

Following the agreement to reinstate, EADA will set the date that the applicant can start competing as an Amateur. It will be at a date not longer than six months from the date of the original application.

In the event of a denial, the applicant does have a right to appeal, which has to be received in writing to the BDC President within 15 days of the receipt of the denial.  The BDC President will discuss the matter with the EADA President.  If they uphold the decision, the President of the BDC will inform the applicant; if the decision is over-ruled the President of EADA will inform the applicant.  The result of the appeal process will be binding.

Turning Professional:

If you are turning Professional please contact the Membership Secretary on membership [at] eada [dot] org [dot] uk who will revert your status to Associate member for the remainder of the calendar year and de-activate your IDSF licence.

Changing the country you represent:

IDSF rules state that it "is not permitted to represent another country in any IDSF World Ranking Tournament until a period of eight months has elapsed, except when the competitor has received consent in writing to the change in representation from each of the two relevant IDSF Members, and then the competitor may immediately represent the new country. The period of eight months referred to above starts with the last date on which the competitor represented the former country in an IDSF World Ranking Tournament or an Open Competition governed by other rules."
The IDSF Member body of the newly-represented country must contact the couple's former IDSF Member body to request agreement for the change of representation. If the former IDSF member body does not reply within one month the athlete may register with the new IDSF member body and represent the new IDSF member body.
